It is probably no surprise to those who know me - I have a lot of opinions. I usually try to keep most of them to myself - unless I feel extremely well informed and have considered every possible contingent perspective. I have written and deleted posts about immigration, health care, women's rights and specific politicians. I have been following the democratic primary and like most other democrats I have been hoping for someone who can inspire us to be a better version of ourselves. I voted on Tuesday for a candidate who didn't necessarily inspire but at least had a vision for what a better version might look like. My candidate did not win. It seems that the winner isn't the person with the best platform, his message is simple - I can beat the other guy. I've seen a yard sign in my neighborhood that says "Any functioning adult 2020" - I'm so disappointed that we can't seem to do any better than that.
